Principal’s Message

We are a welcoming, small town community of connected, creative, hardworking learners.

We encourage one another to be positive, to be exploratory, to be risk-takers, and to embrace our differences. We believe every experience is an opportunity for growth and a path to success!

Welcome to our school and district website!

Los Olivos School was recognized as a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School. We take pride in our academic excellence, our enrichment programs, our great partnerships with the Los Olivos community, as well as our rich school history.

As  superintendent/principal I wear many hats, and there isn’t a job I am not willing to do! I have found my home here at Los Olivos and really enjoy serving our school community.

Here’s to a great year,

About our Superintendent/Principal

Bridget Baublits has served as the Principal since July of 2012 and as the Superintendent/Principal since January 2015. In 2014 she was the recipient of the Veneco Crystal Apple Award as the North Santa Barbara County Administrator of the Year.

Before becoming a principal, Mrs. Baublits spent nine years teaching fourth grade. For eight of those years, she was part of the teaching staff at Los Olivos Elementary School. Bridget attended Chapman University where she earned her master’s degree in Teaching. Additionally, she graduated with a BS degree in Child Development from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo.

For 15 years Mrs. Baublits and her family resided in Morro Bay, California. Her family relocated to Los Olivos in 2012 and are happy to be part of the small town community. Bridget and her husband, Jeff, have two sons, Trinity and Keelan. In their spare time, the Baublits family enjoys a variety of recreational activities including camping, surfing, mountain biking, snowboarding and traveling.

After taking the position as principal Bridget and her teaching staff developed this vision statement, "We believe we are a welcoming, small town community of connected, creative, hardworking learners who encourage one another to be positive, to be exploratory, to be risk-takers, and to embrace our differences. We believe every experience is an opportunity for growth and a path to success!" Mrs. Baublits lives out this vision through her passion and dedication to providing the highest quality education possible for the students of Los Olivos Elementary School.

As President of the Los Olivos School Foundation, it is our charge to make sure we are providing the best enrichment programs and opportunities for our students.  Digital Learning, Science, Life-Skills, Music, and Art are just a few of the programs that we support and provide to the student body.  We have seen the students flourish with these programs and will continue to strive on keeping the school as a beacon for innovative learning and enrichment.

Los Olivos School has been a warm and welcoming environment for our two children. The teachers and staff do a wonderful job paying attention to each child’s unique attributes. Reading and math incentive programs have propelled our children beyond grade level. The commitment of the school’s foundation fundraising efforts offers enrichment that rounds out their education. This is a public school with a private school feel.

The decision to move back to the town Los Olivos was strongly influenced by the fact that my children would be attending Los Olivos Elementary School. From the teacher quality to the challenging curriculum as well as the favorable student/teacher ratio, it is evident why this was chosen as a National Blue Ribbon School.
