Principal’s Message

We are a welcoming, small town community of connected, creative, hardworking learners.

Los Olivos School fosters empathetic, creative, inquisitive, and confident students who believe in themselves, who awaken their full potential and inspire others to do the same.

I am extremely proud to serve as the new Superintendent/Principal of the Los Olivos School District. This school is like no other school in the Santa Ynez Valley. Los Olivos Elementary provides a sound education to students in grades TK-8, all provided by teachers who are certificated by the State of California and who teach the California State Standards. All students have access to chrome books or ipads, and they get to participate in a variety of enrichment and elective experiences including art, dance, choir, cooking, ukulele, robotics, coding, speech & debate, multimedia, accelerated math, leadership and agriculture. The school also features an average class size of just 18 students.

It has not taken me long to make Los Olivos my home for life. The students, staff, parents, and community are all terrific and supportive of the school and appreciate its rich history. Together, everyone makes sure that the children of Los Olivos have the best educational experience possible.

With much gratitude,

Dr. Vicky Dudek

About our Superintendent/Principal

Dr. Vicky Dudek comes to Los Olivos with a vast amount of talent and experience. She was a middle school and high school teacher for ten years before becoming a school administrator. Over the last 12 years, she has been a high school assistant principal, middle school principal, and elementary school principal. Dr. Dudek also worked in the professional development department of a large school district where she helped to make sure that over a thousand teachers were trained in the latest methods and used the most modern technologies. Under her leadership her schools won the National Schools to Watch recognition and the California Blue Ribbon award. She was even asked to speak at a Congressional Hearing in Washington DC on the components of a successful middle school. Her presentations at several major educational conferences were all well-received. In addition to all of her experience, Dr. Dudek earned a doctorate degree at USC in Educational Leadership.

Dr. Dudek has been married to her high school sweetheart, Joe for 31 years. They have two adult children, Aaron and Megan. Everyone in her family is a musician, so it is easy to see why she loves integrating the arts in school. She is also an avid animal lover who owns several dogs and cats, and two horses. She hopes to recreationally ride her 3-year old horse, Sunny, on the trails or cutting cows in the near future.
