Enrollment FAQs:

When does Open Enrollment begin?

Student Registration and Open Enrollment will begin on March 1st. Enrollment packets will be available in the school office on March 1st.

Do you have an online registration form?

Not at this time. We are currently in the process of moving all enrollment to online and we hope to have it up and running by May.

I live out of district, can I still enroll my child at Los Olivos?

We do accept transfers from surrounding districts. You’ll need to apply for an inter-district transfer in your home district. IE: If you live in Solvang, you’ll apply for an inter-district transfer with Solvang School District. Your home district then reviews your transfer request. If it is approved, they will send it to us and you will be added to our waitlist. We review each transfer request on a case by case basis. The main hindrance or denial of requests occurs due to class size limits (18 to 1 average, 10 to 1 in TK/Kindergarten). All transfers must be approved by our school board who meets once a month. Once approved or denied, you will be notified by mail, email, or phone call. Depending on projected class size, it is quite possible not to appear on the board agenda until right before school begins in early August.

What is the age requirement for Kindergarten?

Your child must turn 5 on or before September 1, 2023.

What is the age requirement for TK?

Your child must turn 5 on or between September 2, 2023 and April 2, 2024.

How do I know if I’m in the Los Olivos School District?

Visit the District & Elected Official Lookup page on the county website. Click the red button, then enter in your address information. Your school district should be listed under “Your Districts”. All in district residents must provide proof of residence in district each year.

My child is age eligible for TK. Are they required to attend?

No. Your child is not required to attend kindergarten either, unless they are turning 6 during the school year. EC Section 48200 states that children are not subject to compulsory education until age 6.
