Good Morning, Spartans!

Los Olivos School is currently looking for participants to develop, review, update, and implement our Local School Wellness Policy. We have recently received feedback from several parents regarding the nature of our nutrition program. We'd love for you to be involved in the development of a new nutrition program that will begin in the 2024-2025 school year. We must first begin with updating and implementing our Local School Wellness Policy.

The Local School Wellness Policy is due for assessment and modification as appropriate. We are required to assess our LSWP every three years.

 We're looking for community involvement to evaluate our current policy in the following capacities:

  • School Administrator
  • School Food Service Representative
  • Parents
  • Students
  • School Board Members
  • Community Members
  • Physical Education Teachers
  • School Health Professionals
We will evaluate the current LSWP, the implementation, effectiveness, compliance, and how the wellness policy compares to model wellness policies, and progress made in attaining the goals of the wellness policy. Evaluation occurs through both process and outcome measures. We will use surveys, discussion groups, anecdotal conversations and track changes to practices such as fundraising, classroom celebrations, opportunities for physical activity, meal participation rates, and removal.

Once the LSWP is assessed and modified, we will provide the public with an annual update on the content of the policy and any revisions to the policy.

The LSWP, once finalized, will be posted on our website, accessible to the public. We will also post our assessment review and all documentation of efforts to review and update the policy, including who was involved in the process and how stakeholders were made aware of their availability to participate.
